Sizes run from six-inch side plates to twelve-inch platters, and each one is pressed from a single fallen areca sheath with nothing added to it. That construction is what makes the difference at the table: because the whole sheath is pressed rather than pulped, the plate stays rigid under a hot, saucy meal instead of softening at the centre.
