What this pack is for
If you have hosted a puja or a wedding lunch in the US, you already know the problem. The disposables in the supermarket are wrong for the occasion: too glossy, too Western, too obviously plastic on a table where the food is being served with intention. So people either import, or they compromise.
Sal leaf is what the meal was always served on. Broad leaves gathered from the forest floor after they fall, sun-dried, and stitched together by hand with fine natural fibre. The stitching stays visible. The edges stay irregular. Every plate is slightly different from the one beneath it, and that is exactly right, because a hand-stitched pattal was never meant to look machine-made.
There is no glue in it and no chemical treatment on it. Leaf and thread compost together in a garden bin within weeks, which means the traditional choice is also the one that leaves nothing behind. It carries seasonal income for tribal households in central India, paid in cash at the point of gathering.
Leaf, thread and liner all compost together
Nothing needs scraping. The stitching is natural fibre, so plate and thread break down together in a garden bin within weeks. Everything goes into the compostable liner, and the liner goes into green-waste collection with the contents still inside.
Every item in this box, made by us
Most party packs are assembled from whatever a reseller could source that month, which is why the plate and the cutlery rarely match. We make every item in this box in our own plants, so the finish is consistent, the quantities are right, and if something is wrong it is ours to fix rather than a conversation between three suppliers.
Questions, answered
Each pack states its guest count on the page. They run from 25 to 150. If you are between sizes, order the larger one; leftovers keep indefinitely if stored dry.
Everything for the table, including plates, bowls, cutlery, cups and napkins. Premium packs also include a compostable bin liner, so there is nothing to sort afterwards.
Not within a pack, but you can order any item separately alongside it. Tell us what you are serving and we will say whether a different pack fits better.
That is what these are chosen for. Palm leaf and balsa both photograph well, which matters more at an event than anywhere else.
In the compostable packs, yes, including the liner and the packaging it arrives in. Where a pack contains something that cannot carry that claim, the page says so.
It ships within 24 hours from the nearest warehouse and is delivered in three to five business days. If you have a date, put it in the order notes and we will work backwards from it.
